History of True Jesus Church Menunggang
The seeds of the Gospel of Truth of the True Jesus Church in Kampung Menunggang began to spread in 1974 through the late Brother Panak Bin Liamat, accompanied by a healing miracle of cancer on the roof of his mouth.
On 21st February 1974, the late Brother Panak, along with his four children, Sister Rusinah, Sister Bintun, Sister Paulah, and Brother Indip, received baptism after the late Deacon Andreas (brother of the late Brother Panak) and the late Deacon Samuel Chin made a follow-up visit and preached the Gospel of Truth. Afterward, a service was held at the late Brother Panak’s home.
In 1975, a place of worship measuring 3m x 3.5m (12ft x 10ft) was built for believers to hold services. The construction materials were very simple, with walls made of sago palm fronds, a roof of sago palm leaves, and a dirt floor. At that time, the late Deacon Andreas and the late Deacon Samuel Chin were still pastoring in Kampung Menunggang.
The second church, measuring 11m x 5.5m (37ft x 18ft), was built and dedicated in 1983. The total construction cost of the church was RM8,066.00, which was donated by the Sabah General Assembly. It also included a simple dormitory. At that time, there were 45 believers, and the church already had a structured organization.
The construction of the third church began on 1st February 2006 and was completed and dedicated in October 2007. The construction cost amounted to RM89,149.75, with a building plan measuring 80 feet in length and 50 feet in width. Today, the number of believers has reached 130 (excluding members who have migrated), with three brothers anointed as deacons: Brother Atim Kaling (Deacon Gayus Kaling), Brother Julip Kilui (Deacon Obaja Kilui), and Brother Juimes Tingon (Deacon Yadon Tingon).
